Product Description:
Deerco Soft Type Backer Rod is a soft, pliable, bi-cellular polyethylene joint filler designed for use in construction joints requiring a backup material behind sealants. Engineered for maximum flexibility and performance, it acts as a depth control spacer to help sealants form the ideal hourglass shape for lasting durability and movement accommodation.
With a non-gassing, water-resistant outer skin and excellent compatibility with a wide range of cold-applied sealants, it’s especially suited for irregular or variable-width joints where standard closed-cell rods may fail.

Prepare the Joint: Ensure the surface is dry, clean, and free of frost, oils, curing agents, and loose debris.
Select Proper Diameter: Backer rod should be 25%, 50% larger than the joint width to ensure proper compression.
Install Without Damage: Use a blunt, flat-sided tool or roller to press the rod into place. Avoid over-compressing, puncturing, or stretching.
Seal Over the Rod: Apply the sealant over the backer rod to the depth recommended by the sealant manufacturer.
Note: Not for use with hot-applied sealants. Always confirm compatibility with the specific sealant manufacturer.
